The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2019

The distinguished gentleman’s ride this year was definitely one to remember. This was my first ever DGR and wow what an experience.

I had been checking the weather forecast throughout the week and it just seemed to be getting worse rather than better. I knew whatever I was going to wear I would going to be soaked! So a great jacket was essential, so were my blue checkered trousers 😉. I went with my favourite Belstaff Trailmaster Pro motorcycle jacket. Quite possibly the most comfortable thing I have ever worn and super protective with in built armour should I come a cropper on a wet drain cover!

I woke up at 06:00 am on the day of the Gentlemen’s Ride, did my hair, makeup and sorted my outfit out. I checked outside the window, huge black clouds hovering overhead, please please please do not rain yet!

We set off and just before we arrived in Canary Wharf the heavens opened, monsoon style. But that didn’t stop the 600 or so bikers who were here for a good cause. It was so great to see so many people dressed in their finest tweeds and three piece suits ready to tackle this ride head on!

At 09:00 am it was time to start up our motors and ride! Sadly a few of the classic motorcycles had a bit of trouble starting due to the rain! But for everyone else it was time for a lot of laughs and some very soggy bottoms!

The ride itself lasted just over an hour. We rode past most of Londons historical landmarks with passers by wondering what the hell was going on! 600 tweed wearing mad people riding in the pouring rain.

We all made it back in one piece and still had huge smiles on our faces. It is wonderful riding with like minded people who all have something in common, the love of two wheels and riding for a good cause.

I will 1000% be taking part in next years ride, rain or sunshine!

Wet bums but still smiles on our faces! 😍
